Deffination of Punctuation
#1.The set of marks used to regulate texts and clarify their meanings, principally by separating or linking words, phrases, and clauses.
Or
#2.The marks, such as full stop, comma, and brackets, used in writing to separate sentences and their elements and to clarify meaning.
Comma
1. Use between items in a series of three or more.
2. Use to set off direct words of a speaker from the rest of the sentence.
3. Use to separate two clauses.
4. Use to separate adjectives
5. Use to set off a word, phrase, or clause that interrupts the main thought of the sentence.
6. Use to separate an interjection from the rest of a sentence.

Semi-colon
7. Use in place of a period to join to independent clauses
8. Use to set off an independent clause.
9. Use to separate groups that contain commas.


Colon
10. Use to introduce a list.

Dash
11. Use to show a sudden break in thought.
12. Use for emphasis.
